Xurxo Pernas Diaz

Xurxo Pernas Díaz is a Galician artist born in Cedeira (1992) who graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo.
“In my work I use film photography and painting techniques like ink and gouache, I prefer simple materials and physical contact with them so I can capture quickly and fleshly what interests me.
Although sometimes I explore the landscape or the pose (when days are quiet and nothing seems to happen), I prefer to portray the daily life of the people around me. Inspired by Larry Clark and Nan Goldin I have done this for years with my university colleagues and my partner. The painting gives me the possibility of capturing everything that’s left behind because of its abstract or poetic nature and that cannot be photographed directly.
My work is ungainly and humoristic, a lifelong archive that is completed every day with the strange things that we humans do“.
