Federico Dedionigi
Federico Dedionigi is our artist in residence for the month of May. He will have an open studio from Tuesday till Sunday until May 23rd. The studio is at Kaupvangsstræti 23, Akureyri, west entrance by the parking lot.
Born and raised in Temperley in the southern suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Federico got his Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the Social Museum University at a young age, and was rapidly followed by a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from the distinguished National University of the Arts of Argentina. His interests are varied, he got intersted in Chi Kung, Yoga, meditation techniques and chinese martial arts and continues to learn on these subjects.
Assistant Professor at UMSA (Social Museum University of Argentina), teacher at public and private schools from Buenos Aires. As art therapist, worked at Interzonal Hospital Dr. J. Esteves and did art internships at the Civil Association Antilco.
Between 2016 and 2017 he developed artwork while living in France and while traveling through Northern Europe. He did line sketches that ended up being part of Carnet de Voyage, a series of european landscapes, and Sumi-e ink drawings inspired by the french alps, home for the artist for one snowy winter. During 2018 and early 2019 and while back in Buenos Aires, he got to develop an ongoing series painted in acrylics called States of Being. His next stop is Berlin.
An exhibition of Federico Dedionigi’s works will be held in Deiglan May 24 – 26th.
