THE METAPHOR OF TREES | JORIS RADEMAKER

Joris Rademaker opens the exhibition The Metaphor of Trees on Friday, October 16th, from 7 PM to 9 PM at Deiglan. The exhibition runs through Sunday, October 18th, and is open daily from 2 PM to 7 PM.
On display are both older and new works created from organic materials. Trees—with their roots, trunks, bark, and branches—have served as inspiration for black-and-white gouache paintings. The three-dimensional pieces are assemblages of various organic materials and found objects. The exhibition creates a dialogue between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional works.
Over the years, Joris has become increasingly aware of nature’s profound drive to grow. His works are often symbolic, interpreting and expressing emotions as well as the connection between humanity and nature in a personal way.
Joris is a Dutch visual artist who has lived and worked in Akureyri for over 30 years. He studied art in Tilburg and Enschede in the Netherlands. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in countries including the Netherlands, Iceland, Sweden, and Germany. He has also participated in many group exhibitions, such as those at the Akureyri Art Museum and the Reykjavík Art Museum.
