Singer Jung
Artist in residence in November 2025

Singer Jung is an artist from Seoul, South Korea. She studied painting and video art at Ewha
Woman’s University in Seoul and holds an MSc in Digital Media from the University of
Edinburgh.
Currently, she is working with different languages, people, and places. The most
recent work is a book called Tearfish, a book inspired by the nature and tales of Iceland. The
beauty in landscapes of water, ice, and fire merged in the images, and the magical beings from
its folktales, such as elves, influenced the story. The images and story will be shared in Akureyri
at Deiglan gallery in the last week of this month.

“I have been interested in mixed-up interaction and in-between things, such as sound and
image mediation or translations. Currently, I am focusing on human interactions, exploring
communication with or without languages, sharing stories, and the art. I think the sense of
being a part of a bigger community than our everyday life and the mere border line of nations
is needed in this time in this world. Through my art projects, I want to seek a tender but strong
connection between different people from different places.”
