\nYou are invited to the opening of ‘Structure and Objects’ by Tom Verity on Saturday, june 24th hr 2 – 5pm in Deiglan, Kaupvangsstr\u00e6ti 23.
\nThe exhibition is also open on Sun, hr. 2 – 5pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

“\u2018Structure and Objects\u2019 is an exhibition of installation sculptures by English artist Tom Verity. Tom has produced the works for this exhibition during his month long residency in the Gil Artist Residency Iceland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The installations in the exhibition are made from found, borrowed or recycled material arranged in to self-sustaining structures or situations. The fragile works use natural forces such as gravity, balance and friction to create themselves without fixed definitions.<\/p>\n

The work in the show makes reference to the minimalist sculpture of artists like Richard Serra and Fred Sandback but also uses of mundane everyday objects such as household glassware, tea towels, cutlery, rocks and rope all sources of the local area in an attempt to separate the work from the cold, impersonal side of minimalism.”<\/p>\n
