The art exhibition K\u00falur \/ Balls opens on Friday, February 16th at 19:00, at Deiglan, Listagili\u00f0 in Akureyri. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will only be open for this one weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 to 17:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The artist presents, among other things, paintings that are the result of the struggle with time and the circular form in various interpretations, along with follow-up works with stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is time a ball?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The artist’s attempts to break out of the circularity of their own thoughts always end up back in a loop, continuing round and round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
… perhaps time is a sphere, a form that is never settled, repetition that never reaches an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kar\u00f3l\u00edna Baldvinsd\u00f3ttir graduated from the Myndlistarsk\u00f3linn in Akureyri in 2014. She has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions both in Iceland and abroad. She served as the chairman of the Myndlistarf\u00e9lagi\u00f0 in Akureyri from 2018 to 2022 and currently works as a teacher at Menntask\u00f3linn \u00e1 Tr\u00f6llaskaga. Kar\u00f3l\u00edna now serves on the board of both the Myndlistarf\u00e9lagi\u00f0 and Gilf\u00e9lagi\u00f0 in Akureyri, where she has initiated Samlagi\u00f0, a creative workshop offering art courses for children and teenagers. She was one of the directors and founders of the art project R\u00f3T, which operated in Akureyri from 2014 to 2020 intermittently, and also a member of the art group Kaktus. Painting is Kar\u00f3l\u00edna’s primary medium, but the idea dictates the execution according to the circumstances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
