Sean Taal is the artist in residence for the month of January 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through meticulously detailed pencil drawings, Sean Taal renders fictionalized spaces that question what\u2019s looking back from the shadows. Aiming to create a sense of uncertainty, Sean\u2019s work blurs the dichotomy between comfort and discomfort, real and imagined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sean is a visual artist from Mohkinstsis (Calgary, Canada). He graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design with a BFA in drawing in 2015. In 2012, he attended the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design\u2019s New York Studio Residency Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will be using his time to continue work on an ongoing series of drawings playing with caves as a space where lines between fantasy and reality can easily intertwine. Using pareidolia, reflections, shadows, and wrapping stone formations in fabrics, the aim of these drawings is to create deep uncertainty while remaining seductive and inviting. They are meant to be playful proposals of living altars growing and changing unseen below us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An exhibition with the products of Seans stay will be open January 29 – 30th in Deiglan, Akureyri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
