Alice (1921-2011) grew up at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. She graduated from The California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland in 1944 with a BA degree in commercial art and a teachers diploma as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She worked for one year as a commercial artist in San Francisco before she married and moved to Iceland in the autumn of 1945. Alice pursued a part-time career as a commercial artist in Akureyri, carrying out assignments for local companies and publishers. Many locals will remember the women’s society Framtidin’s Christmas stamps which bore her designs for many years. Additionally, Alice sketched and painted, mostly in water-color, and participated in many exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alice was raised to appreciate nature and she quickly learned to value the rugged environment of her new country. She kept her own horses and never tired of exploring the countryside on horseback where many of her paintings originate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alice received an honorary reward from the town of Akureyri for her contribution to art in the municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
