Emmi Jormalainen er myndlistama\u00f0ur, teiknari og graf\u00edskur h\u00f6nnu\u00f0ur fr\u00e1 Finnlandi. H\u00fan vinnur me\u00f0 teikningar, sj\u00f3nr\u00e6na fr\u00e1s\u00f6gn og prentu\u00f0 b\u00f3kverk. Flestar b\u00e6kur hennar eru \u00fe\u00f6glar b\u00e6kur \u00e1n texta \u00fear sem s\u00f6gurnar eru a\u00f0eins sag\u00f0ar me\u00f0 myndum.<\/p>\n

N\u00fdja b\u00f3kin hennar \u201cEksyksiss\u00e4 \/ \u00c1ttavillt\u201d ver\u00f0ur til s\u00fdnis a\u00f0 hluta \u00ed Deiglunni \u00e1samt st\u00e6rri teikningum. \u00c1ttavillt er um hest sem reynir a\u00f0 finna lei\u00f0 \u00fat \u00far sk\u00f3ginum.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u00c9g fer oft \u00ed g\u00f6ngur \u00ed sk\u00f3ginum, fyrir mig \u00fe\u00e1 er sk\u00f3gurinn r\u00f3legur og gla\u00f0legur sta\u00f0ur til a\u00f0 vera \u00e1. \u00c9g get gengi\u00f0 og leita\u00f0 af sveppum og berjum klukkustundum saman. Oftast tekst m\u00e9r a\u00f0 t\u00fdnast og \u00ed sek\u00fantubrot ver\u00f0ur sk\u00f3gurinn \u00f3hugnalegur og fjandsamlegur \u00fear sem \u00e9g veit ekki hva\u00f0an \u00e9g kom e\u00f0a hvort \u00e9g s\u00e9 a\u00f0 ganga \u00ed hringi. Hinga\u00f0 til hefur m\u00e9r tekist a\u00f0 komast \u00fat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Towards the Unknown<\/p>\n

Emmi Jormalainen (FI) is an artist, illustrator and graphic designer. She works with drawings, visual storytelling and printed artist books. Most of her books are silent books without any text and stories are told only with images.<\/p>\n

Part of her next book \u201cEksyksiss\u00e4 \/ Being Lost\u201d will be seen in the gallery Deiglan together with bigger drawings. \u201cBeing Lost\u201d is about a horse who tries to find its way out of the forest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI often take walks in the forest. For me, forest is a calm and happy place. I can walk and look for mushrooms and berries for hours. Almost every time I get lost. For a split second the happy place turns into scary and hostile. I don\u2019t know where I came from, I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m walking in circles. So far I\u2019ve found my way out.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is also a pop-up bookshop and a workshop where you can come and draw your own story as a small book.<\/p>\n
